Simulations are most useful when paired with clear explanations. These primers help you interpret a run without mistaking luck for a reliable edge.

Roulette: probability, zero and the house edge

Red and black are not 50/50 because zero also wins for the house. A specific number pays more because it is much less likely to land.

Blackjack: decisions, variance and rule assumptions

Choices affect expected outcomes, but no decision system makes individual hands predictable. Table rules also change the mathematics.

Poker: ranges, position and incomplete information

Poker decisions depend on cards, position, bet size and an opponent model. A simulator can train reasoning, but it cannot reproduce every human opponent.

Why a profitable simulation does not guarantee real-world profit

Random variation, rule differences, execution, costs, opponents and sample size all matter. Past simulated results are not predictions.

Expected value

The weighted average outcome of a decision over many repetitions—not what will happen next.

Variance

The natural spread of results around an average. High variance can create long winning or losing runs.

Drawdown

The fall from a previous peak. A strategy can finish ahead while still experiencing severe intermediate losses.
